Really Lucky today to have spent the whole day with Vaillant learning about their prized Ecotec Pro range of boilers. As the only engineer to have bothered turning up out of potentially 10 students, I had the option to go home or stay. Since this is not my style I insisted that it was ok to proceed with a one to one training session and carry on with the day as planned.

Today Odsal Gas and Heating Care are embarking on some long awaited training from the coveted and very under-rated Ideal Boilers. These boilers are by far one of the best boilers on the market as they employ many new and innovative features and are very simple to use, reliable and are a breeze to work on. The New Locic Combi C and the Vogue Gen2 boilers are on the menu today and boast plenty of updates and modifications such as their new simple user interfaces which allow for better navigation for users and engineers alike. Also they will be demonstrating their new heat exchangers which are designed to suck every last drop of residual and latent heat from the exchangers and giving it to the heating saving even more pennies on your gas bills.

The new ‘Boiler Plus’ legislation was implemented on April 6th2018 by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS). With the aim of maximising the energy efficiency of UK homeowners’ heating systems, Boiler Plus is the first major piece of legislation to be introduced since the UK went ‘all condensing’ in 2005.
What is CO Poisoning ?
What is CO poisoning?
Unsafe gas appliances can produce a highly poisonous gas called carbon monoxide (CO). It can cause death as well as serious long term health problems such as brain damage.
CO is produced by the incomplete burning of natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). This happens when a gas appliance has been incorrectly fitted, badly repaired or poorly maintained. It can also occur if flues, chimneys or vents are blocked.
Oil and solid fuels such as coal, wood, petrol and oil can also produce carbon monoxide.
CO poisoning occurs when you breathe in the gas and it replaces oxygen in your bloodstream. Without oxygen, your body tissue and cells die. Even small amounts of the gas can cause CO poisoning, and long term effects can include paralysis and brain damage.
Remember the six main symptoms to look out for:
- headaches
- dizziness
- nausea
- breathlessness
- collapse
- loss of consciousness
Being aware of the symptoms could save your life
CO symptoms are similar to those of flu, food poisoning, viral infections and fatigue. That’s why it’s quite common for people to mistake this very dangerous poisoning for something else.
Other signs that could point to CO poisoning:

Open doors and windows to ventilate the property.
Avoid turning on/off electrical switches.

Extinguish all naked flames and do not strike matches which could cause ignition.
Avoid electrical security entry phones/locks.
